Homemade pink applesauce

Pink Applesauce

Homemade applesauce is delicious and easy to make, although a little time consuming.

½ peck of apples (about 16 apples)
A little bit of water (at most ½ C)

Remove apple cores and slice apples.
Add apples and a ¼ cup of water to a large pot.
Heat over medium heat until apples become mushy, twenty minutes to a half an hour.img_7405
Once apples fall apart easily, remove pot from heat.
Add a little bit to the food mill at at time.
Crank food mill and applesauce will flow!
Add a little bit of sugar and cinnamon if you would like!

This year we used Cortland apples. Cortland apples have a beautiful white flesh. Cooking them results in a beautiful pink applesauce!img_7415

Apples are high in Vitamins A, C, and B.

I prefer to eat mine as soon as it is prepared. My kids like it like they think of themselves, chill.
